Template design by Andreas Viklund
We offer a range of clinics focussing on particular diseases or services in addition to our general
medical services. Typically they are run by our specialist nurses and need to be booked in advance.
Our team also provide phlebotomy (blood taking), ECG (heart tracing), spirometry (lung function)
and other tests that your doctor, nurse practitioner or hospital specialist may request.
Flu immunisations, family planning/contraceptionpregnancy/antenatal, smoking cessation, weight
loss and travel services have their own pages elsewhere on this site.

Asthma clinics; Baby clinics & immunisations; COPD, Emphysema & Chronic Bronchitis clinics;
Diabetes, Heart Health & Cholesterol; Menopause and Minor Surgery clinics are listed below. Due to
operational changes in West Sussex we no longer have mental health counsellors based at the
surgery, but we can refer you to the local Time to Talk service.

Respiratory Services
We strongly recommend an annual review with a specialist
nurse if you have any chronic lung condition.

Online Appointment              Asthma             COPD
Your baby will be invited to a number of
immunisations during their first five years of life.
The schedule is quite complicated and is
outllined in their "red book". Our baby and child
immunisation clinics take place on Thursday
mornings and run by appointment.

Health visitors will see your child regularly for
developmental checks. They also run drop-in
clinics which are a good opportunity to discuss
any concerns you have over feeding, sleeping,
behaviour etc. Health visitor services run from
South Lodge Clidren and Family Centre, 40
Crescent Road, Worthing (map). They can be
contacted on 01903 213522
We can review your heart and cardiovasculkar
health at this clinic. Recommended if you are
over 40 and have not been tested before. We
will check your weight, blood pressure and
cholesterol and we can use this to help identify
lifestyle changes and any other treatments that
you might need.

Before you make an appointment we recommend
you read a little bit about cholesterol LINK

Asthma Clinic
Try our asthma control questionnaire.

Even if your asthma seems to be well controlled
it makes sense to see our specialist nurses
once per year. We can make sure you are on
the right medicine and not taking more than
necessary.

If your asthma is limiting your activities or
disturbing your sleep then you would definitely
benefit from an asthma review - it may be that
changes to your medicines can make a
significant difference to your quality of life.

Make an appointment for a full review or book a
telephone appointment to discuss your asthma.
Diabetic Clinic
Diabetes is complex, chronic disease that if
poorly controlled can result in heart, eye,
vascular, kidney and brain diseases. Good
control of your blood sugars significantly
reduces complications and has been proven to
result in healthier, longer lives.

As a diabetic most of your routine care will be
provided by our team of specialist nurses, who
will help with diet and lifestyle advice as well as
examining and testing you regularly and
optimising your medicines.

We will send you an invitation letter to book an
appointment for your annual review and ask
you to arrange blood and urine tests in
advance.

If you have any simple queries or problems,
then please book a telephone consultation with
our team.
Minor Surgery
We are lucky to have several doctors at the
practice who offer minor surgery.  As a result
we can offer a wide range of services to our
patients: examples of these procedures can
include removal of benign skin lesions or cysts
and sigmoidoscopy.

Many of our GPs offer steroid joint injections for
tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis and other
tendinitis conditions as well as inflammatory
joint conditions such as frozen shoulders.

We also offer cryotherapy (freezing therapy) for
superficial skin lesions: funding for this service is
limited and the clinic runs monthly. Your usual
GP or nurse will refer you for minor surgery or
cryotherapy when required.
Menopause
If you are worried about the menopause or
symptoms that you are suffering from it, we
suggest you make an appointment with our
nurse practitioners or if you prefer your usual
GP.

For most women it is not necessary to have a
blood test to diagnose the menopause - the
diagnosis is based on increasingly irregular
periods and technically defined when no periods
have occurred for 2 years. We would recommend
some reading before hand if you are thinking
about HRT or alternatives to HRT.
Phlebotomy / Blood Tests
Our phlebotomists are pleased to take blood for
you for any tests that are needed. All our blood
tests are arranged by appointment or if you
prefer you can use a "walk-in and wait" service
at Worthing or Southlands Hospitals.

If you are having a fasting blood test please
ensure that you have nothing to eat or drink
except plenty of water (to prevent you feeling
faint!) from 8pm the night before.

You can book appointments online or through
reception.
COPD, Emphysema &
Chronic Bronchitis Clinic
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
includes the diseases of emphysema and chronic
bronchitis. Although these diseases cannot be
cured, with the right combination of treatments
and therapies we can help limit your symptoms
and improve what you can do. Good longterm
control of COPD also reduces the chance that
you may need to be admitted to hospital with a
chest infection.

We recommend that you have a spirometry test
each year and are then reviewed at least
annually by our specialist nurses who will assess
your medication in detail and develop a
treatment plan with you. You can book
appointments for your spirometry and specialist
nurse review through reception.
