Non-NHS Services
Worthing Medical Group, like all GP practices, is an independent business that  provides most of its
services under contract to the NHS on behalf of its patients. The NHS has strict rules about what it
covers and whilst this is very comprehensive, there are certain exceptions. These exceptions can
be mostly grouped into:
  - reports and certificates (occupational health, holiday cancellation, life insurance)
  - examinations for licenses, employers or fostering (e.g. HGV, taxi, PCV, diving)
  - travel immunisations and anti-malarial prescriptions (and hepatitis B)
although there are a few other categories.

How to organise reports

Fees are paid by the individual or organisation
requesting the service, although sometimes
employers reimburse these. The current fees are
on display in the surgery. We accept payments
in cash or by card but we no longer accept
cheques.

Reports, certificates and letters are managed by
Jacqui Smith. Payment needs to be made in
advance and she will advise you of the
applicable fee. It normally takes 2 weeks to
complete most reports and certificates, although
if it is urgent it can be done faster - this is only
at the discretion of the doctor preparing the
report for you and will incur an additional fee.
How to organise medicals
Medical examinations and assessments need to
be booked through reception. Most appointments
take about 25-40 minutes depending on what is
required.

Please ensure that if you use glasses to read or
drive that you bring them with you and please
provide a urine sample when you arrive. We also
ask that you use our machines to check your
blood pressure, height and weight whilst you are
waiting.

Registered at another surgery?

It is not necessary to see attend own GP
practice in order to have an HGV, PCV or taxi
medical - you can see any doctor you wish, at
any surgery. At Worthing Medical Group we are
pleased to see patients registered at other
surgeries and believe we offer an efficient,
convenient and competitive service. Contact
Jaqui Smith via reception to arrange your
appointment.
