Appointments
We aim to offer appointments as efficiently as possible
and for you to see the right person to resolve your
problem first time.

We would like you to see your usual doctor whenever
possible. Reception will always ask who your usual
doctor is and can help you if you are not sure. By
seeing the same doctor consistently it will improve your
healthcare.

We have to to balance offering convenient, pre-booked
appointments with your usual doctor with being able to
offer urgent appointments for problems and conditions
that cannot wait, which will usually will be with
whoever is available and able to see you. We have
developed Rapid Access Clinics to help with this. We
also offer telephone appointments as an alternative to
face-to-face appointments. (More information).

When the surgery is closed and if you feel that your
problem cannot wait then other services are available.

Home Visits

Home visits will be made, if required, to housebound
patients and those who are terminally ill. The vast
majority of patients, including children, will be expected
to attend the surgery unless they are too ill to leave
the house. A lack of convenient transport is not a
reason to request a home visit.

If a home visit is needed please contact us and one of
the healthcare team will telephone you back initially to
assess the urgency of your need. Please try to make
requests before 11am.

are available due to software
limitations but we are gradually
expanding what is offered.

"Help, it's urgent!"

When you should contact
someone else...
Worthing Medical Group (and GPs in
general) do not provide an
emergency service. If your problem
cannot wait at least 2 hours, then
you should be seeking help from
another, more appropriate service
such as Accident and Emergency or
if necessary by calling an
ambulance, by dialling 999.

Examples when you should call an
ambulance:
  -  Sudden onset chest pain
  -  Symptoms of a stroke or TIA
  -  Loss of consciousness
  -  Severe abdominal pain
  -  Severe bleeding

When we are closed...
There are other, out-of-hours
services available.
We know that most of our patients' problems fit into one of two categories:

- Ongoing & complex problems that are best managed by seeing the your usual doctor
regularly who gets to know your specific needs.
- Straightforward problems that could be managed by any clinician and where convenience
is paramount.
We have to balance the appointments we use for long-term problems against those kept for
urgent use. We are introducing pre-bookable telephone appointments and offering more face-
to-face appointments each day. Our team includes a range of GPs with special interests and
our highly experienced advanced nurse practitioners. Together with our nurses and health
care assistants we work to offer all our patients the best possible care.
